About film
Olga (Yuliya Vysotskaya), a Russian aristocrat-emigrant and member of the French Resistance, is arrested during the Nazis raid for hiding Jewish children. In prison Jules, a French Nazi collaborator who is assigned to Olga's case starts to fancy her. It seems he might be willing to lighten her punishment in exchange for intimacy. Olga is ready to do anything to avoid torture, but as the events take an unexpected turn, her hope for freedom fades.
The film is a pinnacle of the later works of director Andrei Konchalovsky, a citizen of the word, who created this drama about war-torn Europe. The film was submitted and then shortlisted, for the Academy Awards from Russia.
