Egor Belikov, film critic, 7th MJFF Main Competition Program Curator:

The program of the Moscow Jewish Film Festival is powerful and impressive — which is what the entire 2021 festival season was like, at a time when the global film industry has woken up from the Covid slumber and started releasing the treasures that were delayed because of the vague awards and release prospects. The program includes not only star-studded and infinitely anticipated premieres on the Jewish themes but also experiments in genre, auteur experiments, and startling short films. All of this came together in an attempt to find a new answer to what is Jewish cinema today and what questions about the search for the Jewish identity it is facing. I am utterly delighted that I have the opportunity to curate a narrative film program for the Moscow Jewish Film Festival — and every time, it is a challenge, but also pure happiness to me as a curator and a viewer.
