Pavel Chukhray is the recipient of the Honorary Award «For the Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Jewish Cinema in Russia.”
On November 19, as part of the Opening ceremony of the 6th Moscow Jewish Film Festival, the Honorary Award “For the Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Jewish Cinema in Russia” was presented. The winner was determined by the voting of the members of the Festival’s Public Council. This year the Award went to director Pavel Chukhray for his film Baltic Tango (2017) and his segment Children from the Abyss (2002).
Pavel Chukhray, director::
It is a great honor for me to receive this Award from the Moscow Jewish Film Festival. I have always been astounded by the qualities of the Jewish people. They have lived through so much during the course of history, and despite all the difficulties have retained a powerful sense of humor, recognizable all over the world. Those are wonderful people, and it is an immense pleasure to be making films about them.
