«Sobibor» named the best jewish film made in Russia

«Sobibor» directed by Konstantin Khabensky received the special Yakov Kaller Award of the 4th MJFFl.

The awards and closing ceremony of the 4th Moscow Jewish Film Festival took place on May 30 at the Documentary film center. «Sobibor» by Konstantin Khabensky received the special Yakov Kaller Award as the best Jewish-themed film of 2018. The film «Sobibor» was released in wide distribution on May 4, 2018. The picture was watched by more than a million viewers in Russia alone.

Yakov Aleksandrovich Kaller was a Russian TV producer, who had received multiple TEFI Awards. At the 1st Moscow Jewish Film Festival he was awarded the Honorary prize «For outstanding contribution to the development of Jewish films in Russia». Yakov Aleksandrovich passed away in 2017, and creators of the Moscow Jewish Film Festival established an award named after him.

Sofia Aleksandrovna Rosenblum, Yakov Kaller’s sister, presented the award to producer of «Sobibor» Ilya Vasilyev.
