The Honorary Decade Award
A. Boroda was presented with the Honorary Decade Award for contribution to the Jewish cinema.
As part of the anniversary tenth Moscow Jewish Film Festival, the grand opening ceremony took place.
Following tradition, the annual Honorary Award for contribution to the development of Jewish cinema was presented. However, this year the organizers prepared a special surprise. By decision of the Organizing Committee and the Festival Councils, a special award — the Honorary Decade Award — was established for unique and outstanding contributions to the development of Jewish cinema. The first recipient of this prestigious anniversary award was the President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia (FJCR), Rabbi Alexander Boroda.
Accepting the award, Rabbi Boroda noted that it came as a surprise to him.
Alexander Boroda, President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia:
Rabbi Alexander Boroda highly praised the role of the festival itself, noting that over ten years, the main achievement has been uniting people and creating an open platform where Jewish culture resonates freely, vividly, and profoundly.
The establishment of the special Decade Award and its presentation to a public and religious figure highlights that the organizers of the MJFF view contribution to cinema not only as direct involvement in filmmaking but also as large-scale work in creating a cultural environment, strengthening identity, and fostering dialogue.
