Opening film of the 10th MJFF

The 10th MJFF will open on December 7th with the premiere of the series «The Zweiflers».

The screening will take place at the «Cinema Park Mosfilm» theater. «Zweiflers» is a spirited family saga with elements of a gangster film, centered on a modern German-Jewish family. The project is the first series in the festival's history to be included in the main program.

The plot follows family patriarch Simcha Zweifler, a Holocaust survivor, as he prepares to sell the family's delicatessen restaurant. While three generations of the family debate the future of the business, old secrets come to light: one grandson is expecting a child, while another is seeking an investor for a sausage production venture. This tragicomic story about memory, identity, and legacy unfolds between Frankfurt and Berlin, balancing humor with a reverent respect for the past. In 2024, the series was awarded the Grand Prize at the prestigious CANNESERIES International TV Festival.

The decision to screen the series at the opening is a clear indication that the festival is keeping pace with the times and is ready to surprise its audience by expanding the boundaries of its program.
