About film
In Guantánamo, Cuba – a city of over 200,000 – only about fifty Jews remain. After decades of religious prohibition, two elderly women, Lidia and Fortuna, prepare for their bat mitzvah, the Jewish coming-of-age ceremony, publicly affirming their faith for the first time. The film follows their daily routines – grocery shopping, household chores, prayers, and ceremony preparations – gradually revealing not only the life of a vanishing community but also the strength of tradition to provide meaning and support in challenging times.
