About film
On January 15, 2022, a routine Sabbath service at Congregation Beth Israel synagogue in Colleyville, Texas, turned into an 11-hour nightmare. An armed man took the rabbi and three other congregants hostage. Because the service was being livestreamed on Facebook, more than 4,000 people around the world watched the events unfold in real time. The standoff involved over 200 law enforcement officers on the ground, including a SWAT team and 70 FBI negotiators. Dani Menkin's documentary, constructed from real video footage, phone calls, archival news reports, and firsthand testimonies, transforms this harrowing event into a gripping thriller. It is a story not only of a hostage crisis but also of resilience, courage, unexpected alliances, and the glimmer of hope that can emerge even in the darkest moments.
