About film
Gnievoszów is a small Polish town where Jews and Catholics lived side by side for centuries. Today no trace remains of its once-thriving Jewish life; even the headstones have vanished from the cemetery. The film Among Our Own restores memory through testimonies, drawings, and pain. The last Holocaust survivor from Gnievoszów and an elderly Polish woman who witnessed the killings recount events that occurred even after the Nazis’ surrender. Using evocative stop-motion animation, Yoav Potash creates an emotional portrait of a community torn apart by fear, love, and guilt.
