About film
1917. Rebeka (Valentina Erzhazhie) flees war-torn Poland with her son, Yosef, escaping famine and anti-Jewish pogroms. In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she expects to be met by her husband, who had gone ahead in search of work. But her hopes for a fresh start are shattered: upon arrival, Rebeka learns that her husband has died. Alone in a foreign land, without work or support, she becomes the victim of a sprawling human trafficking and forced prostitution network led by a man named Tzvi. When he kidnaps her son, Rebeka must confront her deepest convictions and fight not only for her own freedom, but also for that of the other Jewish women trapped by the ruthless pimp.
