About film
Antoine Lisner, a successful French film director, brings his son to Algiers, his hometown, to premiere his new film, «The Little Blond from the Kasbah». The autobiographical story takes place in Algeria in the 1960s, at the height of the country's war of independence. The director talks passionately about his friends, family, the joys and difficulties of life, and also about how he fell in love with the magic of cinema.

Director Alexander Arkadi was born in Algeria, which was then a French colony, to a Jewish family. In 1961, his family left the country and moved to the suburbs of Paris. Since the late 1960s, he became interested first in theater, and then in cinema. He started as an actor, then became a director of theater and television, and later became the main director at the theater of the city of Suren. The director's first full-length film, «Le coup de sirocco» (1979), began an Algerian trilogy, which was supplemented by the paintings «Le grand pardon» (1982) and «The Big Carnival» (1983) and glorified Arkadi.
