About film
The name of the comedy, «Yaniv», refers to an old card game that originated in Israel. Two teachers in New York see it as a way to make quick money, but they are not sure how to go about it. Barry Bernstein, a high school teacher in the Bronx, is working on a school production that has not been funded by the principal. He urgently needs ten thousand dollars to avoid disappointing his students. Barry asks for help from his colleague Jonah, who is a former gambling addict. Jonah agrees to play Yaniv with Barry in an underground club that hosts the «blackjack of Jewish people». The participants in this game are Orthodox Jews who take it very seriously. Barry and Jonah are aware of the risks involved in playing with these people, but they decide to give it a try.

Amnon Сarmi is a director, producer, editor, and screenwriter who graduated from the New School in New York with a degree in media studies. He currently runs his film production company, Roof Dragon Entertainment. Previously, he lived in Tel Aviv where he founded a graphic design company and worked in the marketing department for the fintech company Alviere, producing, directing, and editing video ads. Karmi collaborated with his friend and fellow classmate Ben Ducoff to create the film «Yaniv». The film was shot with the participation of high school students from Dukoff's Bronx school.
