About film
The film is based on the true story of Herbert Heller, who kept his story of survival hidden from even his family for 60 years. As a child, he was sent to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp by the Nazis, but he managed to escape. After learning that he had an incurable disease, Herbert decides to share his story with Abby, a teenage girl who has already experienced pain and loss. He tells her that if she shares her scars with him, he will share his. This exchange of stories helps both characters to heal and form a strong bond.

Finn Taylor is a screenwriter and director of six feature films, as well as a three-time participant in the Sundance Film Festival. Before taking up screenwriting, he studied poetry and drama at the University of San Francisco. His films have been shown at festivals around the world and have been distributed by Sony Pictures Classics, StudioCanal, Fine Line, Lakeshore and Paramount. Some of his other notable movies include «Dream with the Fishes» (1997) and «Cherish» (2002), «Unleashed» (2016).
