About film
Four generations of a Jewish family live under one roof in the center of Moscow. And although the Abramoviches live very close to a synagogue, they are all very far removed from Jewish traditions, religion and identity, except for old Musya Lvovna. Borja sells (and eats) pork, trying in vain to succeed in business, his son David hides his origins, and his wife Alla does not even suspect how much she resembles a real Yiddishe mother. But everything changes one day when a lightning bolt strikes Borya, who is running away from the collectors. Coming to his senses, he meets his ancestor's spirit - the noxious old man Haim. Once Haim committed a terrible sin and brought a curse on their entire family. Only Bora is able to remove it from the Abramovich family, but to do this he needs to free Haim's soul.
One of the producers of the series is Artem Vitkin, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Moscow Jewish Film Festival and our «movie mashgiach».

Ilya Farfel grew up in Israel, studied and lived in Los Angeles. In 2009 he graduated from The Los Angeles Film School, and in 2017 he moved to Moscow.
As a director he has worked on the following projects: the TV series «Family War» and «Shorter» for the online cinema START, the films «Desperate Sharecroppers» and «Faberge Egg». September 26, 2023 on START is a new project of Ilya Farfel - the series «Poor Abramoviches».
