About film
This star-studded film was made by the opera director Bartlett She specifically for HBO Max, one of the most exciting streaming platforms of today. It is the adaptation of a play based on a true story, but one which was quite hard to bring to screen, for it tells about the Oslo Accords negotiations and signing. The Accords still regulate almost every aspect of Israeli-Palestinian relations, so their contemporary relevance is beyond doubt, especially in 2021. It turns out that those documents are the result not of some boring diplomatic work but an entire international drama with many participants. Ruth Wilson, who won a Golden Globe for her role in The Affair, plays Mona Juul, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs official, while Andrew Scott (Moriarty from BBC’s Sherlock) plays her husband Terje Rød-Larsen. It is this couple who will have to build bridges between the leadership of two countries that are in the perpetual state of war, and that in 1993, when the Accords were signed, had no contact with one another.

Director
Bartlett Sher is an American theatre director who has recently turned to film work. Sher won one Tony Award and has been nominated for nine more. He received one of those nominations for the production of the play Oslo, the television adaptation of which became his directorial film debut. Sher pitched the screen adaptation idea to Marc E. Platt, producer of La La Land and Cruella, who instantly became excited. The film stars Ruth Wilson and Andrew Scott — actors who are no strangers to theatre work. It was released on HBO, received mostly positive reviews and a 2021 Emmy nomination.
