About film
Following a long marriage full of love and tenderness, Yosef and Zilli prepare their family for the day when they would commit suicide together. As they are bringing their plan to life (excuse us for the pun), their youngest son Doron attempts to preserve their memory with his camera.

Dean Gold is a Canadian director, screenwriter, and producer of Israeli origin. His short horror film, Shehita (2018), won the Best Short Film award at the Toronto Short Film Festival. Gold doesn’t hesitate to play with concepts while creating films on Jewish themes, and so he authored the successful documentary VR project Fragments of Jerusalem (2020). His latest film, The Love and Death of Yosef and Zilli, won the Best Short Documentary Award at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival.
