About film
A lonely intellectual Jewish grandfather prepares to celebrate the Sabbath together with his caretaker but is haunted by the ghosts of the past. This short but convincing Australian drama about old age dementia (which somewhat resembles the recent Oscar-winning film The Father) explains straightforwardly way that nothing on Earth passes without a trace, but that life is still worth living.
Rewards and nominations
- St. Kilda Film Festival 2021 — Best Score in Short Film; nominee: Short Film, Best Achievement in Cinematography
Director
Lev Jutsen is an up-and-coming Australian short films director. His works were screened at the Berlin Student Film Festival, Brisbane International Film Festival, and Miami Jewish Film Festival. Jutsen actively expresses his liberal social position and often takes part in protests. He recently moved to Los Angeles to study filmmaking, but because of the pandemic, Jutsen began to film more works on his own and analyse his favourite films in writing. Among them are such Hollywood movies as The Marriage Story, La La Land, Chinatown, and others.
