About film
Tamar Manasseh is an African American rabbinical student who is fighting against senseless killings on the south side of Chicago. Every day Tamar, the cheerful, confident and magnetic mother of two, sits on the corner of 5th Street and South Stewart Avenue in the Englewood section of Chicago. This is the ghetto where poverty, unemployment, addiction, and violence are rampant. In 2015, a young woman was killed while trying to break up someone else’s fight. Tired of waiting for politicians to do something, Tamar decided to take matters into her own hands. She did something simple but revolutionary — sat down on the street corner and hasn’t left since. Tamar belongs to two cultures — she is both Jewish and Black. They Ain't Ready For Me dismantles the problems which Tamar faces every day, explores her motivation and how her faith helps her.
