About film
Chasing Yehoshua is a documentary film by Shay Fogelman, a journalist who writes for the Israeli newspaper Haaretz. In 2005 Yehoshua Elitzur was placed under house arrest after he was found guilty for shooting an innocent Palestinian taxi driver, and then escaped almost at once. Five years later, the suspect is still on the run. In 2010, Shay Fogelman decided to find Yehoshua no matter what. His filmographic investigation lasted till 2018, at which point the author realized that he was probably the only person who was still chasing Elitzur and trying to uncover the truth. Yehoshua’s story is full of mysteries. Fogelman dives into facts, crosses continents, gets in touch with the relatives of the deceased Palestinian man. He also suspects that this case, like many other similar cases in Israel, has a regrettable political underpinning. Chasing Yehoshua is a serious investigation into justice in a country that spends every day under martial law.
