About film
Ruth Bader Ginsburg was one of the most famous Supreme Court Justices in the modern U.S. history. Supreme Court Justices are highly influential figures in the U.S. – they are appointed for life, and their views and values matter for the manner in which they collectively govern the judicial system of the country. Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a liberal, and she regularly disagreed with the party line, often stating rather harsh dissenting opinions (opinions expressing disagreement with the majority opinion of the court). RBG is dedicated to Ginsburg’s life and her hard journey – she was born in a family of Jewish emigrants, gained familiarity with the Hebrew language, attended the synagogue, and then - being a woman - with big difficulties advanced along her career path in law. RGB came out in 2018, and in 2020 Ginsburg passed away, and President Trump nominated a conservative catholic Connie Barret for Ginsburg’s position – the history moves forward and into the darkness. The film received two Academy Awards nominations (for the Best Documentary Feature and the Best Original Song) and four Emmy Awards nominations, winning one of them for the Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking.
