Skin (2018)

The Russian premiere of American film by Israeli director Guy Nattiv, which won an Oscar for the Best Live Action Short Film in 2018 and which deconstructs the mechanisms behind xenophobia and unmotivated hatred in the New World’s society. A young boy’s head is shaven, and he lives a pastoral childhood, even though his mother an father are Neo-Nazis. At a parking lot of a supermarket the father of the family beats up an African-American - cruelly and for no reason - not yet knowing that his position of a privileged white man soon won’t be able to protect him from recompense, and that his destructive love for violence and arms, which is characteristic of the entire American society, will turn against him. The final scene of the film, in which the child brought up by these parents avenges the hatred, has probably completely astonished the members of the Academy.
