About film
Adaptation of Matrosskaya Tishina, a play by Alexander Galich. It is set in the 1930s Moscow. David Schwartz is a talented violinist, who has gained recognition from the metropolitan audience. He became the Conservatory’s top graduate, and is moving relentlessly towards his heart’s desire. The promise of many world tours is on the horizon, and the only unsurpassable obstacle on his way to a successful career is the «item five» indicating his nationality in the passport. Davis is ready to renounce his origin, but the sudden visit from his father confuses David’s plans.
The film is directed by Vladimir Mashkov, People's Artists of Russia (he was still Honored Artist of Russia when the film came out). Mashkov also starred in the film.
