Aleksey Shelmanov is an animation artist, screenwriter, and painter. He worked at film studios Soyuzmultfilm and Argus. Together with Turkus, they released a number of animation films. Shelmanov illustrated children's books. He passed away in 2011. Vanity of Vanities was released after his death by Turkus.
