About film
This animation grew out of a letter that director Susan Shulman’s grandfather wrote to her grandmother in 1900. The script is based on one single page out of hundreds penned at the time. Both grandparents immigrated to Montreal from Russia. He did it in 1900 at the age of 18, and when she joined him in Canada in 1902, she was 20. The film Shulman created is an immigrant tale of love and courage.
