The first Kurdish settlements appeared on the territory of Syria in the 11th century. After the First World War, the main part of the territory of Ottoman Kurdistan went to Turkey, and the remaining territories were divided between the French Mandate territory of Syria and the British Mandate territory of Iraq. Now about 10% of the Kurdish population lives in the territory of Syria. The number of Kurdish Jews among them is extremely small.
