Adolf Eichmann played a key role in the deportation of more than 1.5 million Jews from across Europe to death camps and other killing centers in the occupied territories of Poland and the Soviet Union. At the end of the war he was taken prisoner by the Americans but escaped in 1946. Hid in Argentina, where he lived until his abduction by agents of the Israeli Security Service in 1960.On December 15, 1961 in Israel, he was brought to trial, where he was found guilty of crimes against the Jewish people. Hanged at midnight from May 31 to June 1, 1962 - it was the only case in history of the use of the death penalty by the Israeli state.
