About event
On May 30 the Jury of the 4th Moscow Jewish Film Festival will announce its winners. The awards ceremony will take place at the Documentary film center and will be followed by the screening of the feature film “The Invisibles” (2017, directed by Сlaus Refle).
“The Invisibles” is a film about four Jews who survived in Berlin when it was declared to be “free of Jews”. Young people have to hide themselves and each does it in a unique manner. Seventeen year old orphan Hanni Lévy dyes her hair blonde and casually walks along the streets of Berlin. Cioma Schönhaus has gone underground and began to forge passports that can save lives of other Jews. Eugen Friede joins a resistance group that distributes antigovernment leaflets, and Ruth Arndt pretends to be a war widow and serves black-market gourmet foods at the apartment of a NS officer. This film intertwines dramatic reenactments of history with interviews of real people, which allows its viewers to see a startling reality of Berlin in 1943.
